Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between National Assembly and Save the Children International

 

Agreement to strengthen parliamentary cooperation for the protection and promotion of children’s rights, with collaboration on various initiatives including children’s digital safety and civic internship programs.

Islamabad (Izhhar Khan Niazi) – A memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Assembly Secretariat and Save the Children International to enhance cooperation on children’s issues and initiatives. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday at the Parliament House in Islamabad, where Secretary of the National Assembly Secretariat Saeed Ahmed Metla and Country Director of Save the Children International Muhammad Khurram Gondal signed the memorandum.

Federal Coordinator of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Daniyal Chaudhry, along with Members of the National Assembly Aasia Naz Tanoli and Daniyal Ahmed, also attended the ceremony.

The purpose of the memorandum is to effectively facilitate cooperation between the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights regarding children’s issues and initiatives. Under this partnership, collaboration will occur in areas such as civic internship programs for children, digital measures for child protection, and other important sectors related to the promotion and protection of children’s rights.

According to the parties, this partnership will help promote evidence-based parliamentary activities, strengthen child-centered initiatives, and contribute to creating a safer, more inclusive, and supportive environment for children in Pakistan.

The signing of the memorandum between the National Assembly Secretariat and Save the Children International has been regarded as a significant advancement in fostering institutional cooperation between parliament and the international organization, reflecting a joint commitment to children’s rights, protection, and welfare in Pakistan.

Special Secretary for Special Initiatives Syed Shamon Hashmi, Chief Technical Advisor Manail Khan, and officials from the National Assembly Secretariat including Syed Hazik Bukhari, Iffat Parvez, and Syed M Arslan Kazmi were also present at the event.

From Save the Children International, Muhammad Khurram Gondal, Muhammad Amir, Noorul Amin, Rabia Rooh, Fawad Bakhtiar, and Manzah Ali participated in the ceremony.
