Commitment to Make the Capital an Exemplary City in Traffic Management
Islamabad (Special Correspondent) — Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Ms. Kainat Azhar Khan visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Tuesday and participated in a comprehensive and constructive meeting with the business community.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on traffic-related challenges in the federal capital, parking facilities, encroachments, and measures to improve traffic management.
Addressing the session, Ms. Kainat Azhar Khan said that Islamabad Traffic Police and the business community are working towards a shared objective: making Islamabad an exemplary city in terms of traffic discipline, public convenience, and smooth mobility.
She stated, “We are all part of one family, and through mutual cooperation, coordination, and consultation, we will resolve all issues related to traffic management.”
The CTO expressed her commitment that her office doors would always remain open for traders and citizens. She said she would personally remain available to address traffic-related complaints, suggestions, and concerns.
She also announced that she would visit different commercial areas of Islamabad and hold meetings with representatives of traders’ welfare associations to assess ground realities and develop effective and long-term solutions through consultation with all stakeholders.
President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mahmood welcomed the distinguished guest and said that traffic congestion and parking issues faced by businesses and citizens in the federal capital require immediate attention.
He emphasized the need for stronger coordination between traffic authorities and traders’ organizations, saying that mutual cooperation can improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and promote a culture of discipline and compliance with traffic laws.
Sardar Tahir Mahmood reaffirmed that ICCI would continue to extend full cooperation to Islamabad Traffic Police in making the capital an exemplary city in terms of traffic management and urban discipline.
ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub highlighted the traffic issues faced by traders of the Fruit and Vegetable Market and said that special measures were essential to improve traffic flow and facilitate business activities at this major commercial hub.
During the meeting, ICCI executive members and representatives of various traders’ welfare associations informed the CTO about traffic congestion, parking shortages, encroachments, and other issues faced by commercial centers across Islamabad.
Participants appreciated the positive and practical approach of Islamabad Traffic Police and expressed hope that continuous consultation and coordination would help resolve long-standing traffic-related problems.
ICCI Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry thanked Ms. Kainat Azhar Khan for visiting the chamber and appreciated her efforts to maintain direct communication and cooperation with the business community.
He expressed hope that the proposed visits to different commercial areas would pave the way for permanent and effective solutions to traffic issues faced by traders.
