State Bank of Pakistan and Rawalpindi Development Authority Hold Key Meeting on the Prime Minister’s “Apna Ghar” Housing Programme

Rawalpindi (News Reporter): A constructive meeting was held between the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Rawalpindi and the team of the Additional Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Syed Masood Bukhari, to discuss facilitation measures for the implementation of the Prime Minister’s flagship housing initiative, “Apna Ghar Programme – Ghar Ho To Apna.”

The meeting was attended by Acting Chief Manager of SBP BSC Rawalpindi, Syeda Asma Aziz, Senior Deputy Chief Manager Umar Siddiq Khattak, RDA Chief Planner Muhammad Tahir Mayo, RDA Director Administration Nausheen Israr, RDA Director Finance Masood Arshad, and representatives from the Bank of Punjab, Askari Bank, and Bank AL Habib.

During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on matters related to the creation of mortgages, lien marking, and housing finance for allottees of housing schemes falling under the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Development Authority.

The participants also highlighted the key features of the programme, which aims to provide affordable and accessible housing finance to low- and middle-income groups. Under the programme, eligible individuals will be able to obtain financing on favourable and subsidised terms for the construction or purchase of a house, thereby promoting home ownership, financial inclusion, and sustainable housing development.

During the meeting, officials of the Rawalpindi Development Authority assured their full cooperation in the implementation of the programme. They agreed to disseminate information through the RDA website, official communications to housing societies, and print and electronic media.

Furthermore, the RDA expressed its willingness to appoint a focal person for coordination with banks and establish a one-window facilitation system to expedite the housing finance process for eligible applicants.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority also reaffirmed its commitment to providing full support and facilitation for the promotion of the Apna Ghar Programme and the efficient processing of housing finance cases.
