Rawalpindi (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi) – Rawalpindi Police have arrested the suspect involved in the shocking attack on a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, whose throat was slashed with a knife in the jurisdiction of Dhamial Police Station, within just 24 hours of the incident.

According to police, immediately after receiving information about the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani took notice and directed officers to ensure the suspect’s swift arrest. A case was registered on the complaint of the police the previous day, while the injured child was immediately shifted to a hospital, where she received timely medical treatment. Doctors have stated that her condition is now out of danger.

Under the supervision of the SP Saddar, the SHO Dhamial and police teams carried out continuous and effective operations, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the arrested suspect is a close relative of the victim’s mother.

According to police, the suspect confessed during interrogation that he attempted to kill the child due to a personal grudge and a domestic dispute. Police added that operations are also underway to arrest the suspect’s possible facilitators and any other accomplices, who will soon be brought to justice.

CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani stated that inhumane crimes involving violence against children, their exploitation, or endangering their lives will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He assured that the suspect would be presented before the court with strong evidence to ensure that he receives punishment in accordance with the law.
