No Green Areas or Footpaths Will Be Allocated in Future: Dr. Anam Fatima
Islamabad (City Reporter) — A delegation of officials from various markets, led by President of the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran and Traders Action Committee Islamabad Ajmal Baloch, met with Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Director Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) Dr. Anam Fatima to discuss issues faced by traders regarding open spaces.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajmal Baloch said that the DMA had suddenly cancelled all licenses issued for open spaces, causing difficulties for traders. He urged the department to formulate standard operating procedures (SOPs), assuring that traders would fully comply with the approved guidelines.
Director DMA and Chief Officer MCI Dr. Anam Fatima explained that violations of open space regulations had been reported at several locations, an issue also highlighted by Chairman CDA during his visits. She added that cleanliness standards were not being maintained and encroachments had also emerged at some places.
She said that all existing licenses were cancelled due to these violations, and new SOPs were being prepared for future arrangements. She made it clear that no space would be allocated on footpaths or green areas in the future.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Traders Action Committee Khalid Chaudhry, Raja Zulfiqar, Ajab Khan, Waseem Abbasi, Tabish Mehboob, Aamir Bukhari, Rana Bilal, Naeem Iqbal, and other representatives.
