Awareness Walk Also Held; Lane Violations, Wrong-Way Driving, Riding Motorcycles Without Helmets, Non-Standard Number Plates, Wrong Parking, and Overloading Are Not Only Traffic Violations
ISLAMABAD (Crime Reporter): The Islamabad Traffic Police’s special enforcement campaign against lane violations is continuing. During the past week, legal action was taken against more than 5,000 drivers for violating lane discipline. The ITP Education Wing also provided road safety awareness to more than 100,000 citizens.
Lane violations, wrong-way driving, and riding motorcycles without helmets can prove fatal. Indiscriminate legal action will continue against serious violations of traffic laws, said Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan.
According to details, in light of the special directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police’s special enforcement campaign against lane violations is continuing in full force across the federal capital to ensure effective implementation of traffic laws, promote road safety, maintain smooth traffic flow, and prevent accidents.
During the campaign, challan tickets were issued and legal action was taken against more than 5,000 drivers who violated lane discipline during the past week. Meanwhile, the Education Wing of the Islamabad Traffic Police conducted special awareness campaigns on various roads, at educational institutions, and public places across the city, educating more than 100,000 citizens about lane discipline, road safety, and the importance of traffic laws.
An awareness walk was also organized by the Islamabad Traffic Police to raise awareness among citizens regarding traffic laws. The walk was held from Jinnah Avenue to Express Chowk. Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan, Director ITP FM Ayesha Jameel, representatives of civil society, journalists, students, and a large number of citizens participated in the walk and expressed their commitment to following traffic laws.
At the conclusion of the awareness walk, CTO Islamabad said that lane violations, wrong-way driving, riding motorcycles without helmets, non-standard number plates, wrong parking, and overloading were not only violations of traffic laws but also placed the lives of drivers and others at serious risk.
She further said that Islamabad Traffic Police would continue indiscriminate legal action against serious violations of traffic laws, and no one would be allowed to endanger the lives and property of citizens.
The CTO Islamabad further said that the purpose of road safety workshops, awareness walks, and other educational activities was to create awareness among citizens about traffic laws and promote a culture of responsible driving. She urged citizens to observe lane discipline, avoid wrong-way driving, ensure the use of helmets and seat belts, and refrain from using non-standard number plates, wrong parking, and overloading to promote a safe and organized traffic system.
She further said that the Education Wing of Islamabad Traffic Police was continuously conducting road safety awareness activities across the city, while strict legal action would also continue against elements that obstruct the smooth flow of traffic and violate traffic laws.
Islamabad Traffic Police appealed to citizens to follow traffic laws and cooperate with law enforcement agencies so that the federal capital could be made a safe, organized, and accident-free city.
