Pakistan reaffirms the importance of its longstanding relationship with the United States; U.S. lawmakers commend Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace

Members of the United States Congress, Michael James Baumgartner and Ryan Zinke, met with Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House on Wednesday. During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States, parliamentary diplomacy, and the promotion of mutual cooperation.

Welcoming the U.S. delegation, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Pakistan attaches special importance to its longstanding relationship with the United States, which is based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests. He stated that parliamentary diplomacy can play a key role in further strengthening relations between the two countries.

He emphasized the need to further enhance parliamentary contacts, exchange of delegations, and cooperation in various sectors between the legislatures of both countries. He said that such engagements would help strengthen mutual trust and facilitate joint efforts in addressing common challenges.

During the meeting, the Speaker reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. He stated that during the recent regional tensions, Pakistan consistently supported restraint, dialogue, and de-escalation. He added that diplomacy and meaningful dialogue remain the most effective means of achieving lasting solutions to conflicts.

On the occasion, U.S. Congressmen Michael James Baumgartner and Ryan Zinke thanked the Speaker of the National Assembly for the warm welcome and hospitality. They appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive role during the recent tensions between Iran and the United States and praised the country’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
