Dawoodkhel (Zia Niazi) – A young worker, Zamin Abbas, was killed when a landslide occurred while he was working at the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) salt mine. The incident raises serious questions about safety measures in the mines. Many workers are losing their lives due to the lack of safety protocols. Zamin Abbas, a resident of Kakarwanwala and the only breadwinner for his elderly parents, died on the spot. His sudden death has plunged the entire area into mourning. Following this tragic incident, serious concerns have been raised once again regarding the safety and protection of workers in the mines. Due to the absence of basic safety measures and oversight, laborers are forced to risk their lives daily while working. Zahid Iqbal Malakhel stated that workers earning millions monthly are not provided with necessary facilities, leading to frequent accidents in the mines. The Pakistan Central Mines Labor Federation Punjab expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident, extending heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the affected family.
