Drugs Worth More Than Rs160 Million Recovered; Ice Also Seized from Parcels Bound for Australia and New Zealand

ISLAMABAD (Asif Malik): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out operations against drug smuggling in various cities across the country, arresting eight suspects and recovering 83.7 kilograms of different types of drugs worth more than Rs160 million.

According to an ANF spokesperson, large quantities of ice, hashish and heroin were seized during eight separate operations conducted across the country.

According to the spokesperson, 2.2 kilograms of ice soaked into clothes were recovered during the search of a parcel being sent to Australia at the cargo shed of Jinnah International Airport Karachi. Similarly, 1.2 kilograms of ice concealed inside a steel container were seized from a parcel bound for New Zealand at a courier office in Rawalpindi.

A total of 38.4 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a vehicle near Peshawar Ring Road, leading to the arrest of two suspects. Meanwhile, one suspect was taken into custody after 18 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a truck near Karachi’s Super Highway.

Seven kilograms of heroin were recovered from a vehicle near the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza in Lahore, and three suspects were arrested. In another operation, one suspect was arrested after 7.2 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a vehicle near the M-1 Link Road in Rawalpindi.

Another 7.2 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a vehicle near the Bhedra Interchange in Mansehra, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.

In another operation, 2.5 kilograms of ice expertly concealed inside a mini electric oven was recovered from a courier office on Nasir Bagh Road in Peshawar.

According to the ANF spokesperson, cases have been registered against all the suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations have been initiated.
