RAWALPINDI (News Reporter): As a result of the continuous efforts of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APSMA), the School Education Department of the Government of Punjab issued a new notification on July 17, 2026.

Under the notification, private educational institutions will now be able to obtain building fitness certificates not only from the Communication and Works (C&W) Department but also from civil engineers or engineering firms registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

According to APSMA, on July 7, 2026, Central Chairman Kashif Adeeb Jawadani, APSMA Lahore and Kasur President Chaudhry Muhammad Abbas and Central Joint Secretary Muhammad Hasnain Chaudhry met with the Punjab Minister for Communications and the relevant secretary and raised the issue.

Subsequently, a solution to the matter was finalised during a meeting with Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan.

APSMA thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan and the Secretary of School Education Punjab for the decision, saying that the measure would facilitate thousands of private educational institutions as well as millions of students and parents.

APSMA recalled that in 2023, serious difficulties had arisen due to the condition that building fitness certificates could only be obtained from the Building Department. Abrar Ahmed Khan, President of APSMA North Punjab, raised concerns through several meetings and written correspondence.

As a result, certificates issued by PEC-registered engineers were also recognised on January 5, 2024, while the recent notification reaffirms this position.

The central leadership of APSMA congratulated private educational institutions on the achievement and expressed its resolve to continue its struggle for the protection of their rights.
