FIA Immigration Uncovers Allegedly Forged Marriage Registration Certificate; Passenger Referred to Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for Legal Action

The Immigration Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Islamabad Zone, offloaded an Australian passport holder of Afghan origin during secondary profiling at Islamabad International Airport. The passenger was scheduled to travel to Australia on Emirates Flight EK-613.

According to the FIA, a detailed examination of the passenger’s travel documents revealed that he had allegedly obtained a Pakistani family visa through misrepresentation and forged documents. The passenger claimed that he was married to a Pakistani citizen, Maryam Anwar, and produced a marriage certificate in support of his claim. However, during the profiling process, he was unable to provide satisfactory evidence to verify the marriage.

An FIA spokesperson stated that further scrutiny found the submitted marriage registration certificate to be allegedly forged and prepared solely for the purpose of obtaining a Pakistani family visa.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the passenger had entered Pakistan on May 29, 2026, using the family visa allegedly obtained on the basis of the forged documents. Investigators also learned that he had reportedly paid an Australia-based agent AUD 300 to arrange the Pakistani family visa.

After being offloaded, the passenger was handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Islamabad, for further legal proceedings. The agency said that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
