Islamabad (News Reporter) Renowned Iqbal scholar, writer, educationist, and Executive Director of the National Language Promotion Authority, Dr. Rashid Hamid, has reached another significant milestone in his academic and teaching services. His textbooks, written under the auspices of the Punjab Textbook Board, now include the Urdu books for Pakistan Studies for matriculation and intermediate classes, along with their English translations. Previously, his history book for the fifth grade has been in use since 2022. The total number of his published books as part of the curriculum has now reached five. Dr. Rashid Hamid began his teaching career nearly two decades ago as a history teacher at Government College Murree and Taxila. During this time, he also managed the literary page of the daily Nawaiwaqt. Subsequently, he had the honor of serving in key positions at important national institutions such as the National Language Authority, the Academy of Letters Pakistan, the Urdu Science Board, and the Urdu Dictionary Board.
Dr. Rashid Hamid’s eighth-grade history book was published in English in 2022 as the principal writer. Now, in 2026, the Urdu book for tenth-grade Pakistan Studies and the Urdu book for twelfth-grade Pakistan Studies have been published, and the English translations of both books have also been released. This is a commendable acknowledgment of his academic and research efforts. Additionally, he has also been a member of the curriculum committee for MS and MPhil Urdu at HEC. This not only showcases Dr. Rashid Hamid’s scholarly and literary capabilities but also reflects his invaluable contributions to the preparation of standard curricular materials for important subjects like History and Pakistan Studies.
