Meeting with Dr. Farooq Sattar Proposes National Kashmir Conference, Calls for Participation of All Political Parties
Islamabad (Izhar Khan Niazi): Federal Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, has said that holding a National Conference on Kashmir is essential to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue and strengthen national consensus by bringing together all political parties, members of parliament, experts, intellectuals, civil society representatives, youth, and Kashmiri leadership.
He expressed these views during a meeting with MQM Pakistan senior leader and Member of the National Assembly Dr. Farooq Sattar at the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir office on Tuesday. Former Federal Minister Ameen-ul-Haque, Zahid Malik, Shah Faisal, and Sundas Malik were also present.
Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and said Pakistan continues to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to the people of Kashmir at every level. He stated that Pakistan’s success in what he described as the “battle for justice” against India is a matter of pride for the nation.
Expressing concern over developments in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, he alleged that Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders have been imprisoned for years and that India is attempting to alter the demographic composition of the region by issuing domicile certificates, which he said violates international law and United Nations resolutions.
During the meeting, Sundas Malik also emphasized the need to raise the Kashmir issue more effectively at the international level and appreciated Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon’s efforts in promoting the Kashmir cause.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said that MQM Pakistan does not currently have representation on the Parliamentary Committee working on Kashmir, adding that the effective participation of all political parties is essential on this national issue. He stressed that a lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute can only be achieved through political and diplomatic means.
Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon agreed with Dr. Farooq Sattar’s proposal, stating that national unity and broad political consensus are essential in addressing the Kashmir issue. He also appreciated MQM Pakistan’s public service, particularly its contributions to the education sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon presented bouquets and commemorative Kashmiri scarves to Dr. Farooq Sattar and the other participants.
