A special meeting of the Paigham-e-Aman Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, where key decisions were taken to maintain law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram and to promote inter-sect harmony and religious tolerance across the country.
The meeting was attended by prominent religious scholars from different schools of thought, religious leaders, representatives of minority communities, coordinators of provincial and regional Paigham-e-Aman Committees, and relevant government officials.
It was decided during the meeting that strict action would be taken against individuals spreading sectarianism, hate speech, and provocative content on social media. It was also agreed to make the Paigham-e-Aman Committee more active and effective at the district level.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that maintaining close and continuous coordination with religious scholars is a top priority of the Ministry of Interior, and ensuring peace and order during Muharram is a collective responsibility of all. He emphasized that public awareness in light of the Quran and Hadith regarding terrorism and extremism is the need of the hour, adding that Islam does not allow rebellion or disorder against the state, and scholars must guide the public in this regard.
Mohsin Naqvi also announced the appointment of a special liaison coordinator for the Paigham-e-Aman Committee.
Referring to recent Iran–US negotiations, he said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a leadership role in the process, while Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir served as a key operational figure on the ground. He stated that the historic agreement between the two countries was the result of effective teamwork, and the Field Marshal was a trusted figure for all parties involved.
The Interior Minister further stated that several countries attempted mediation efforts but failed to achieve success. He noted that Field Marshal Asim Munir not only maintained a firm stance for peace but also identified critical issues at key moments, which helped strengthen trust between the parties.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, when negotiations were stalled just hours before the ceasefire deadline, a sincere appeal by the Field Marshal played a crucial role in moving the process forward.
He also referred to recent tensions between Pakistan and India, stating that certain events reflected divine support, further strengthening faith in unseen assistance. He added that during Iran–US talks as well, several critical moments arose, but matters remained under control with the grace of Allah Almighty.
Minister of State Talal Chaudhry praised the role of the Paigham-e-Aman Committee, stating that its efforts in promoting religious harmony, tolerance, and national unity are highly commendable.
Religious scholars present at the meeting paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their roles in facilitating the Iran–US peace agreement.
The meeting concluded with special prayers for the security, stability, unity, and peace of the country.
