






Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi Attends Ceremony, Assures Fulfillment of Railway Police Demands
Lahore (Bureau Report): A prestigious passing out parade of the 69th Recruit Course and the second Sub-Inspector (Legal) Course was held at the Railway Police Training School Walton. Following the completion of training, 875 trained officers and personnel, including 87 women, officially became part of the Pakistan Railways Police.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi was the chief guest at the ceremony. Inspector General Pakistan Railways Police Muhammad Wasal Fakhar Sultan, senior officials of Pakistan Railways and Police, training staff, parents, and media representatives also attended the event.
Addressing the newly passed-out personnel, Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi congratulated them and said that they now carry the important responsibility of protecting national railway assets, millions of passengers, and railway installations. He emphasized that every officer must perform duties with honesty, courage, discipline, and a spirit of public service to further strengthen public trust.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of IG Railways Police Muhammad Wasal Fakhar Sultan, the professional capabilities of the force and the quality of public service would continue to improve.
The Federal Minister stated that Railway Police is playing an effective role in maintaining law and order, preventing ticketless travel, assisting passengers, and protecting railway property. He assured that the demands presented by the IG Railways Police would be fulfilled on a priority basis, adding that effective protection of railway property and passengers is impossible without the Railway Police force. He also appreciated the sacrifices and services of the personnel.
In his address, Inspector General Pakistan Railways Police Muhammad Wasal Fakhar Sultan appreciated the reform vision of the Federal Minister and said that Railway Police is working diligently to provide a safe and respectful travel environment for passengers, especially women, children, elderly citizens, and persons with disabilities.
He informed that under the Federal Minister’s vision, a target was set to recover railway land worth Rs. 10 billion during the current year. So far, land worth approximately Rs. 7 billion has been recovered, which will contribute to increasing railway revenue in the future.
The IG Railways Police advised the newly appointed personnel to make the rule of law, honesty, good conduct, and professional excellence their guiding principles. He urged them to treat every passenger with respect and always avoid corruption, favoritism, and misuse of authority.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of Railway Police, he also appreciated the services of injured personnel. He presented various welfare and administrative demands of the force before the Federal Minister, including improvement in salaries and allowances, residential facilities at the training school, construction of a mess, ladies hostel, administrative block, and approval for recruitment against 1,795 vacant positions.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi distributed certificates of appreciation among officers and personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance. He congratulated all passed-out constables and Sub-Inspectors (Legal), expressed his best wishes for their future, and reiterated that the Government of Pakistan would continue taking all possible measures to enhance the capabilities of Pakistan Railways and Railway Police.
