Rawalpindi (Staff Reporter) – The alleged presence of private vehicles at the General Bus Stand in Rawalpindi has raised questions about administrative performance. Citizens and transporters claim that private vehicles are being allowed to operate within the bus stand, giving the impression that a rent-a-car business has begun there. They argue that since the General Bus Stand is designated for public transport, private vehicles should not be allowed to operate from there.

According to them, if private vehicles are being permitted to enter, park, and operate within the bus stand without authorization, it constitutes a violation of relevant laws and the Four Vehicle Ordinance, which should be addressed immediately.

Citizens have stated that the current situation at the General Bus Stand is already causing difficulties for transporters. Allowing private vehicles to occupy space there further complicates matters for transporters who have invested heavily in purchasing vehicles to operate legitimate transport businesses.

They have demanded an immediate end to the dominance of private vehicles at the General Bus Stand, a review of camera recordings, and an investigation into how private vehicles are entering despite surveillance at the entrance and who is granting them permission to park inside. Citizens have called on Rawalpindi Administrator and Chief Commissioner Salman Ghani, Chief Officer of the Municipal Corporation Imran Ali, and Secretary of the RTA Rawalpindi Asad Shirazi to take immediate notice, investigate the matter, and take action against unauthorized private vehicles.
