Rawalpindi (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi): Taking immediate notice of a complaint received from a citizen, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera ordered a departmental inquiry. After the allegations were found to be true during the inquiry, a police constable and his two private accomplices were arrested from the CPO Office.
According to police officials, Constable Mohsin Zia, posted at Chaklala Police Station, along with his two accomplices, has been booked under charges related to kidnapping and extortion.
The complainant alleged that the police official, along with his two associates, kidnapped him by threatening to register a case against him and later released him after receiving money.
CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera stated that corruption, misuse of authority, or any kind of misconduct with citizens would not be tolerated in the police department. He emphasized that police officers and officials must demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and professionalism while performing their duties.
He further said that protecting citizens’ rights is the foremost responsibility of the police and strict action will be taken under a zero-tolerance policy against any official involved in violation of the law or misuse of powers.
Police officials said that a case has been registered against the accused at Chaklala Police Station, and a complete challan based on solid evidence will be submitted to the court soon.
