RAWALPINDI (Abdul Ghaffar Khan): The Rawalpindi ARL Under-16 Cricket Tournament witnessed an extremely thrilling contest, as Shaheen Memorial Cricket Club defeated Niaz 18 in a Super Over to secure a memorable victory and qualify for the semi-final.
Batting first, Shaheen Memorial Cricket Club scored 160 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sufyan Siraj played an excellent innings of 40 runs, while Yousaf scored 32 and Fazlullah contributed 30 runs to the team’s total.
In reply, Niaz 18 also produced an impressive performance, scoring 160 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs to level the match. The game was subsequently decided through a Super Over.
In the Super Over, Niaz 18’s leg-spinner Fazlullah bowled excellently and conceded only eight runs. However, the batsmen of Shaheen Memorial Cricket Club adopted an aggressive approach and achieved the required target in just three deliveries, winning the thrilling contest.
Shaheen Memorial Cricket Club’s Sufyan Siraj delivered an all-round performance in the match, scoring 40 runs and taking three wickets. He was declared the Player of the Match. Among the other bowlers, Anwar took two wickets, while Abbas claimed one wicket.
The match is being regarded as one of the best games of the ARL Under-16 Tournament, with both teams putting on an excellent performance. However, in the end, Shaheen Memorial Cricket Club held its nerve in the tense Super Over, secured victory, received great appreciation from the spectators, and qualified for the semi-final.
