Rawalpindi (Staff Reporter): Sub-Inspector Muhammad Farooq Kalyar of the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has successfully completed his PhD in Urdu Language and Literature from the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) after successfully defending his doctoral dissertation.

Dr. Muhammad Farooq Kalyar’s research thesis is titled “Fiction and Society: A Study of Gender Discrimination in Contemporary Urdu Short Stories in the Context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” The primary objective of the research is to highlight the role of Urdu fiction in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the goal of Gender Equality.

The study presents a detailed analysis of gender-based discrimination in society through contemporary Urdu short stories, its social impacts, and the prospects for promoting gender equality. The thesis also demonstrates that literature, particularly Urdu fiction, can play an effective role in raising social awareness and promoting gender justice.

It is a matter of pride for the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi that Sub-Inspector Muhammad Farooq Kalyar attained the highest academic qualification while serving in the police force. His achievement is a testament to his tireless hard work, academic dedication, and perseverance, and serves as an outstanding example of excelling in higher education alongside professional responsibilities.
