Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Visits National Police Bureau, Chairs Key Meeting, Directs Development of a Unified System for International Driving Permits

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Police Bureau (NPB) and chaired an important meeting, during which tribute was paid to police martyrs across the country on the occasion of Police Martyrs’ Day. The meeting also granted in-principle approval for the introduction of a uniform nationwide system for obtaining Police Character Certificates.
Addressing the meeting, the Interior Minister said the sacrifices made by police martyrs in maintaining peace, combating crime, and protecting the lives and property of citizens would always be remembered. He described the police martyrs as the pride of the nation and said their sacrifices could never be repaid. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing by the families of police martyrs and providing them with every possible support.
Mohsin Naqvi announced that Police Clearance Certificates would now be issued through the National Police Bureau under a simplified, faster, and fully online system. He said citizens would be able to apply for and obtain Police Clearance Certificates from their homes through the National Police Bureau’s online portal, saving both time and resources.
The Interior Minister also directed officials to develop a uniform nationwide system for the issuance of International Driving Permits. He said that standardized systems for Police Clearance Certificates and International Driving Permits would significantly facilitate Pakistani citizens traveling abroad.
He further stated that transforming the National Police Bureau into a modern, efficient, and dynamic institution remains one of the government’s key priorities.
Later, the Interior Minister inspected the ongoing renovation work at the National Police Bureau headquarters. During the visit, the Director General of the National Police Bureau gave him a detailed briefing on the organization’s performance, reform initiatives, and future development plans.
