Existing Building Upgraded Instead of New Construction; Modern Systems Installed for Energy Efficiency and Better Working Environment

ISLAMABAD (By Izhar Khan Niazi): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani inaugurated the modernized office complex of the Senate Secretariat at Parliament House, upgraded in line with contemporary requirements.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Senate Secretary Syed Hasnain Haider, senior officials of the Senate Secretariat, and authorities involved in the implementation of the project.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chairman Senate said that modern systems, effective infrastructure, and a professional working environment were essential for strong democratic institutions.

He said the modernization of the Senate Secretariat was part of a broader reform agenda aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, improving service delivery, and equipping the Secretariat with the facilities and capacity required to effectively support Parliament in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the project reflected a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the careful and prudent use of public resources. Instead of constructing a new building, the existing infrastructure was modernized through effective planning, resulting in improved office functionality, better workspace management, and enhanced overall institutional efficiency.

Under the project, the renovated office complex has been equipped with a modern Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air-conditioning system, including a fresh-air supply facility. The modern system is expected to help conserve energy, improve temperature control, and enhance indoor air quality, providing officers and staff with a more comfortable and healthier working environment.

The office layout was also redesigned and optimized, creating additional and improved workspace without increasing the overall footprint of the building.

The Chairman Senate appreciated the professionalism and hard work of the project management, engineers, architects, consultants, and CDA personnel, as well as all others who contributed to the successful completion of the project.

He said modernization of parliamentary institutions was essential for effective, accountable, and transparent governance. Modern facilities would further strengthen the administrative capacity of the Senate Secretariat, improve organizational performance, and enable officers and staff to provide more effective support to Parliament and its standing committees.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani reiterated his commitment to continuing the process of institutional development, modernization, and sustainable reforms to further strengthen parliamentary governance while ensuring the effective and prudent utilization of public resources.
