Dawood Khel (Zia Niazi) – The bridge being constructed at Thal Lari adda has become a center of attention even before its inauguration. Locals claim that the contractor completed the bridge with substandard work, which may not last long. The previous bridge took several years to construct due to the pillars, and when it was time to place the beams, someone cut and took away the rebar. Subsequently, other pieces of rebar were welded onto the beams. According to workers from Dawood Khel who work on various projects, the welding of these rebars has reduced the strength. When the beams were placed and the lintel was laid on the bridge, the plaster underneath was uneven, with some going upwards and some downwards towards the canal. Additionally, cracks were visible in the side safety walls. After going viral on social media, the contractor repaired these issues. Residents of Dawood Khel have demanded that DC Mianwali Shahid Abbas Khatia ensure the bridge at Thal Lari adda is operational within a few days, but only after a complete inspection to determine its suitability for heavy traffic. This bridge will be used by trolleys carrying wheat, rice, mung beans, soil, and heavy trucks transporting bricks, as well as harvesting machines. Will this bridge be able to withstand the weight of heavy traffic? If the bridge passes inspection, there will be no issue; however, if public opinion suggests the bridge is not strong enough, timely measures should be taken to prevent a major accident.
