Daud Khel (via Zia Niazi) – Under the jail reform vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the ‘New Beginning Program’, the Punjab government has provided dignified employment to inmate Hamidullah Khan, who was released after serving a life sentence from Central Jail Mianwali. Superintendent of Central Jail Mianwali, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Gil, inaugurated an electrician workshop for the released inmate in Musa Khel. Speaking on the occasion, the Superintendent stated that under the New Beginning Program, a zero-interest loan of 200,000 rupees is being provided to skilled inmates who have been released. He explained that under a joint program of the Jail Department and Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance, eligible convicted prisoners can obtain interest-free loans to start their businesses related to the skills they learned in jail, enabling them to earn a dignified livelihood and support themselves and their families. On this occasion, released inmate Hamidullah Khan expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Punjab for providing dignified employment and thanked philanthropists for facilitating his early release by paying the compensation amount.
