Murree (Report: Raja Usman Ali) – The Green Electric Bus Service project launched on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has entered the implementation phase, as the first batch of green buses has arrived in Murree. Citizens have welcomed the project and expressed hope that it will modernize and improve the public transport system in the “Queen of Hills.”
Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zahir Abbas Shirazi, addressing a press conference, stated that in the first phase, 11 green electric buses have been handed over to the district administration, while four more buses will arrive in Murree in the coming days.
He said that the Punjab government has released substantial funds for the construction of bus terminals, waiting areas, and other necessary infrastructure, and work on these facilities is progressing rapidly. Routes, terminals, and waiting points for the buses are also being finalized so that the green bus service can be launched for the public as soon as possible.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the eco-friendly green electric bus service will provide safe, comfortable, and modern transport facilities to both residents and tourists in Murree. He added that the project will particularly benefit women, students, elderly citizens, and daily commuters, while also helping reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution in the city.
He reiterated that the district administration is utilizing all available resources to complete the project quickly and make it operational for the public.
